Frequently Asked Questions
Molded dash kits are pre formed at the factory to fit the shape and contour of your dash. The pieces arrive to you 3 dimensional, and mold around corners, sides, and edges to give a more OEM factory look. Flat dash kits are called "flat" because they arrive as flat pieces. They are flexible when warmed, and will curve to the shape of the dash, but in only one direction, and are capable of doing only the facing surface. Some kits include a combination of both flat and molded pieces.
The full or master kit for a particular vehicle
has the most pieces of any one kit for that vehicle. It is the biggest and
most complete single kit for your vehicle.
Can I do the installation myself? Most of our customers do their own installations. All of the products we offer arrive to you with complete installation instructions. Our website also has general guidelines for installation. Please refer to the instructions included with your kit, as installation instructions.
No, we do not recommend this. We recommend you get a "Factory Match" kit to complement your factory installed wood dash (if you are not sure if your vehicles wood is factory installed, ask your dealer)
Which type of kit is easier to install, flat or molded? Both types of kits are easy to apply, and are applied in generally the
same way. They both have a 3M adhesive backing, and adhere to the existing
dash surface. Flat dash kit installations often require more time because
of the greater number of pieces in the kit.
Real wood veneers are manufactured from very thin sheets of genuine wood, whereas the synthetic veneer is an embossed image that resembles wood. The synthetics are remarkably similar in appearance to real wood.
Keep in mind also that real wood veneers can vary slightly from tree to tree. Even though a kit is cut from the same sheet of veneer, each piece can have slightly different coloring, burling, etc. Synthetic veneers are always the same, and you are guaranteed to get pieces that match exactly. This is important to consider if you plan to add additional kits in the future. Also, almost all OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) are using synthetic. For example: Acura CL & TL, BMW Z6, Buick Regal, Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Ram, Honda Accord and Passport, Infiniti Qx4, Isuzu Rodeo, Jeep Cherokee, Kia Sportage, Lincoln 2000 LS, Navigator and all Towncars, Mazda 626, Oldsmobile Bravada, Toyota 4-Runner, Avalon, and Camry Solara, and Volvo C70.
They fit perfectly. We actually create the templates for our dash kits by going and measuring the actual dashboard, of the actual year and model, of the particular vehicle for that kit. Our high-tech computer guided cutting machines create a perfect duplicate every time. It is guaranteed to fit.
Our trained staff has years of experience installing dash kits, and
would be glad to assist you in the best choice for your vehicle’s
interior. To narrow your choices, consider questions such as: Straight
grain wood or a burled wood? A dash that stands out and is noticed, or
blends in with the interior? For a dash to stand out, choose a light wood
for a dark interior, and a dark wood for a light interior. To blend in,
choose light woods with light interiors and dark woods with dark
interiors.
Some vehicles may, or may not, come with certain options. This requires us to include pieces that can be used in the different variations that are possible for that particular vehicle. You use the pieces you need and discard those that you don’t. This way you get consistent color and grain patterns, since we make each kit from one piece of wood.

It is impossible to list every kit and year. We may be have a kit for
your vehicle that is not listed in our site.
We do not sell partial kits, or pieces out of kits.
No, we are unable to sell any materials.
No, this is not a problem. The thin flat pieces are flexible, (especially when they are warmed before installation) and are designed to conform to the curved surfaces of you vehicles dashboard. By far the majority of wood dash kits that you see in vehicles today are ‘flat’ dash kits. This goes for Factory Installed wood grain dashes as well as after-market installed wood grain dashes.
Will the kit look bad, like some kind of a cheap wood grain sticker? Absolutely not. Many vehicle manufacturers (several of which we are suppliers too) install these exact same real wood dash kits at their factories as Original Equipment. Also many new vehicle dealers install these dash kits as Dealer Installed Options, charging hundreds and hundreds of dollars more than we do here at the Wood Dash Factory for the exact same kits. These are beautiful real wood, epoxy coated first quality dash kits. They look gorgeous, especially in bright sunshine where all the detailed wood grain and the deep rich color can be brilliantly seen. |
